From the 1st of June, the electricity consumers should be informed on their energy bills on the cost of energy generation that is being used. The tariff flags (green, yellow and red) indicate whether the energy cost more or less, depending on the conditions of electricity generation. The date was set on Tuesday (16/04) by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel).
The application of tariff flags shall be made by distributors in the country from January 2014, but as of June begins the period of system testing. Thus, consumers will be informed what the flag that month, if the system is in effect.
The flags tariff work as a traffic light: green flag means to generate low cost energy. A yellow flag indicates a sign of attention because generation costs are increasing. Already the red flag shows that the supply of energy to meet consumer demand occurs with higher generation costs, such as the drive to generate thermal energy, which is a more expensive source of hydroelectric power plants.
With the systematic banners tariff, there will be a signaling monthly cost of electricity generation, giving the consumer the opportunity to adapt their consumption.
