A AND (National Association of Detrans) asked for Contran (National Traffic Council) the maximum term from one year to the start of the fines motoboys according to the new law regulating the industry. The inspection of the new rules, scheduled to begin yesterday, was postponed for a meeting in Brasilia between representatives of Contran, of Detrans and unions motoboys.
At the meeting, it was agreed that there will be just fine without checks-educational-until day 20, when the bodies will discuss proposals submitted by States in a new meeting.
In practice, the meeting could seal agreement to postpone the fines and keep the educational supervision. The Contran maintains the position that the regulation is in effect and that, in theory, states can monitor and fine. In São Paulo, pending the decision, the Military Police will only steer motoboys that are at odds with the standards. Among the new rules, the rider should have done the training course of 30 hours, wear vest with reflective strips and traffic on the bike with safety equipment such as fire-kite antenna and protector legs.
The fine is $ 191.54 U.S., plus the seizure of the bike.
"It was a small victory, and we expect the new timetable for the category that can do the required course," said Gilberto de Almeida Santos, the labor union in São Paulo.
ADEQUACY
Motoboy 12 years ago, Adelmar Rodrigues da Silva, 41, approved the possibility of a longer term. "I'm equipped and adequei the bike to work. Lack only the course," he said.
Enrolled in required classes since January, Silva only able to take the course in June. "Without a degree I can not put the red plate. My fear was having to stop work until the course," he said.
To enroll in the course, motoboys could face queues that start at dawn in schools registered by the DMV.
