BRASILIA: Brazilian Public Ministry is mobilizing against PEC 37 Autor: Ministério Público do Estado do Pará
The attorney general Antonio Marcos Ferreira das Neves participated in the event in Brasilia against impunity, accompanied by members of the Public Ministry of the State of Pará members prosecutors across the country are in Brasilia today the 1st Brazilian Symposium Impunity . The event, held in the auditorium of the Public Ministry of the Federal District and Territories (MPDFT), is a public act against the Proposed Constitutional Amendment 37/2011 - dubbed PEC impunity - it intends to withdraw the powers of investigation of the MP and other institutions such as courts of Auditors, the Internal Revenue Service, the Central Bank and IBAMA.
During the event occur lectures in the morning and in the afternoon, a mobilization in Congress to deliver to the president of the Federal Chamber of a petition (Letter GMT), a balance of mobilizations by prosecutors across the country and also a publication containing the successful probing experiments that were conducted by the promoters of Justice.
The PEC has been approved by a Special Committee of the House of Representatives and will now be submitted to the plenary of the House before heading to the Senate. According to the evaluation of leaders of the MP, the approval of the measure would hinder the investigation of cases of corruption and money laundering, among others.
The prosecutor and various civil society groups are mobilizing against the approval of PEC 37, communication campaign and various initiatives. For national mobilization that occur during the Symposium on the 24th are planned over 500 people, including prosecutors, officials of the three branches of government and representatives of organizations and institutions.

The campaign "Brazil against Impunity" is coordinated by the National Association of Public Prosecution (CONAMP), the National Council of Attorneys General (CNPG), the National Association of Prosecutors (ANPR), the National Association of Public Prosecutor of the District Federal and Territories (AMPDFT), the National Association of Attorneys Labor (ANPT) and the National Association of Military Prosecutor (ANMPM). The action has the support of several institutions, including the CNMP.
